Classic case of too many books, too little time but I FINALLY got around to reading Herman Koch’s The Dinner. I have to admit it was slow moving for me at first. However, the buildup (all wrapped in the guise of a polite family dinner) delivers an exceptional ending that was more than satisfying. In fact, it was even a little jarring. It’s not often that a book will succeed in ripping the tablecloth from your expectation, leaving the crystal details still standing, but revealing an entirely different side of the story you didn’t know you were headed for. Kudos Koch. You got me!
